Description

It’s our bay, our heritage, our classroom - and there is much to learn. From history to data collection, our creeks serve to document the health of our waterways. Save The Great South Bay invites you to join us at The View in Oakdale on Friday, February 7th from 8-10 AM for a complimentary breakfast conference at which our distinguished panelists discuss how we can bridge STEM-focused education and local stewardship by using creeks as an extension of our traditional classrooms. A Q&A session follows the discussion.

Our distinguished panelists include:

- Melvyn Morris, Co-Coordinator, Day In the Life Program, Brookhaven National Lab

- Peter Walsh, Educational Director, Seatuck Environmental

- Lou Siegel, Founding Member, NYS Marine Educators Association

- John Dolan, Superintendent, East Islip School District

Dr. Arthur Kopelman, President of the Coastal Research and Education Society of LI (CRESLI) and a SUNY Distinguished Service Professor, will moderate the discussion. Dr. Kopelman is the Education Committee Chair for Save The Great South Bay.

We encourage all participants to arrive promptly at 8:00 am to enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast while networking with colleagues. Talk will begin promptly at 9:00 am.
